Pim van de Akker and Dutch chef Yuri Verbeek presented their third International Food Floral Fashion Show at The European Floristry Championship 2016 in Genoa, Italy.
The haute-couture dresses, matching culinary delights and music made up for an exciting overall experience.
Amazing combinations

A polished oyster shell-dress was shown and guests were simultaneously treated to a ‘pearl made from oyster flesh, cream and gold-leaf’. And whilst enjoying ‘a piece of guinea-fowl roasted on oak’ there was a dress made from the same wood and guinea-fowl feathers to admire. Fashion, floral art and gastronomy flowed together seamlessly during the International Food Floral Fashion Show.
"Creating dresses from scratch"

Pim van den Akker: “It was a honour to show at The European Floristry Championship. It was our third edition and we challenged ourselves to make this show better than the one before. We used lots of new techniques and combinations in the designs as well as the dishes.
The whole show takes a lot of time to prepare. The time necessary to make one dress alone is three or four days. Pim: “Starting point is a bare mannequin. No existing fabric dresses but creating from scratch. This way you are free to explore the possibilities. Find out what the limits are. Not only your own limits, but the limits of the materials you use. How far can you go?”
